IT Terms - There's A Word For That?

While watching the Veritasium video, There Is Something Faster Than Light, there is a quote by John Bell (Physicist, CERN) where he states:

“I felt that Einstein’s intellectual superiority over Bohr, in this instance, was enormous; a vast gulf between the man who saw clearly what was needed and the obscurantist.” *

As soon as I heard that word spoken in the video I was alerted. Could that be a real word?

All these years, working in IT, and dealing with Obscurantists & I didn’t know there was a term for them?!? 🤓

It’s even a complete branch of Philosophy! Well, my years in IT and my experiences with people trying to hide why things work the way they do, seem to back that up. 😆

Emphasis

“characterized by deliberate vagueness”

Their vagueness wasn’t by accident, but purposeful.

As the antithesis to the Obscurantists out there, I’m glad we cleared that up! 😆😅😂

*If you watch the video at this place, you’ll see that many people who’ve read Bohr’s response to the EPR paper find it to be confusing and have purposeful obscurity in it.
